Understanding Your Points
Is 65 points enough for Australia PR?
While 65 points makes you legally eligible to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) via SkillSelect, it rarely guarantees an invitation. Because the system is highly competitive, invitations are issued to the highest-scoring candidates first. Many IT and Engineering occupations currently require 80 to 90+ points. However, healthcare professionals and teachers often receive invitations with much lower scores (65-70 points).
How can I increase my Australia PR points?
- Improve your English: Achieving "Superior English" (e.g., IELTS 8.0 or PTE 79 in all bands) gives you 20 points, up from 0 for Competent English.
- State Nomination (190 Visa): Being nominated by an Australian State or Territory automatically adds 5 points to your total.
- Regional Migration (491 Visa): Committing to live and work in a designated regional area adds a massive 15 points to your profile.
- NAATI CCL Test: Passing the Credentialed Community Language test (translating English to your native language, e.g., Hindi, Malayalam) grants an easy 5 points.
